Loyalty and friendship blended well

“When you have a good friend that really cares for you and tries to stick in there with you, you treat them like nothing. Learn to be a good friend because one day you’re gonna look up and say I lost a good friend. ― Marilyn Monroe

This blog article is written  in memory not to the man in the photo but  his beloved pet who passed away a few months ago. I did not know them personally but always looked forward to their early evening summer walks when the two of them trudged by my patio door on their way to explore parts unknown.

The man enjoyed his evening constitutional with his best friend and the dog always showed him who the boss actually was in the end.

Many times the dog would park its butt on the sidewalk and visibly protest the walk. But eventually, through gentle cajoling and coaxing, the little dog would raise itself up and happily follow its master.

It appeared to be an older dog and many times the man would carry it back home.

The man has not replaced his deceased companion and I doubt he ever will…they shared a unique bonding and a close relationship.

Many times in this life a truly loyal and caring friend is not always two footed. —  gc

  1. We had a shih tzu like that, stubborn as the day is long, but I did carry him if he was threatened by another dog, or when he was older and too tired to walk home. I could write a few posts about dogs we had.

  2. Nice sentiments Gerry. What a pity our four legged friends have such relatively short lives in comparison to ours. On the other hand, it often means we have the pleasure of more than one or two of them in our lifetime. Over the years Eleven dogs have graced our home and I have ‘Tales’ for each of them!

  3. Very heartwarming Gerry. Friends are just irreplaceable! I’ve had 3 beloved dogs who have gone on to heaven and they were loved! 🙂
