“Of all the hardships a person had to face, none was more punishing than the simple act of waiting.” ― Khaled HosseiniA Thousand Splendid Suns

Their planned Labor Day get together reminded me of the old-fashioned barn raising activities from a more pastoral time. As many as six participants brought their bikes to the deserted schoolyard and spent a good two hours of their time this past Sunday repairing, replacing, tweaking and upgrading their bikes for a marathon bike tour the next day. None of the folks reside at my apartment building but their  efforts and determination converted them into photo fodder for my camera. And yes these are the same folks who store their cycles in the evergreen trees nearby.  — gc
