“History is always written by the winners. When two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books-books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe.” ― Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code

George Armstrong Custer was a United States Army officer and cavalry commander in the American Civil War and the American Indian Wars. A noted personality of his era.

Donald John Trump is the 45th and current President of the United States. Before entering politics he was a businessman and television personality.

The two men have everything and nothing in common. One man tried unsuccessfully to eliminate the Sioux Indian nation while the other seems to be hell-bent on eradicating the planet of the people of North Korea and their threat to world peace.

Both men are to cocksure of their own place in history and are oblivious to the fact that reality and their deluded way of thinking may be at odds.

Mr Trump and Custer are consumed with the rightness of their every action nd no threat is too great that they cannot nip in the bud.

History has shown time and agin the results of such ego maniacal thinking.

In Custer’s time Winchesters rifles. tomahawks and bows and arrows were the weapons of choice.

Today The United States of America and the People’s Republic of North Korea possess enough nuclear armament to incinerate not only the planet we live on but make a substantial dent if the fabric of our solar system.

Rational men and women in government should realize that Mr T. might be suffering from mental stress and call for his removal from public office before Trump’s North Korea conflict becomes his LIttle Big Horn.

History and karma have a way of eventually balancing the ledger of decency. — gc

  1. Are you thinking Donald J. Trump needs his own Crazy Horse 🙂

    • In truth Mt T. is really one “crazy” son of a bitch to be sure. Remember how Custer was known for his blonde hair…until he got scalped ( and not by a barber). Trump needs a good swift kick in the pants.

You also realize he has a very shaky and unreal grasp of history. He does boast a firmer grasp on women’s buns but that is beside the point.

Trump does not seem to realize that Kim Jong Un could be his very own Crazy Horse.

It’s a battle of two mad men grasping for the tarnished brass ring. 🙂

  2. To choose these two men to compare lives is brilliant. I love the similarities, of which I never would have thought!

I also love love love that you use the quote about how the winners write the history books! So sad and so true!

You always have a point of view that I never would have thought of Gerry. Love it!

    • Thank you Penny. The one outstanding similarity for both men was the blonde hair.

Custer lost his at the Little Big horn while Trump hair waves majestically about in the wind.

MY viewpoints are sometimes off the wall but in this instance all the pieces it together.

Thank you for your kind words.

Enjoy the day. Be safe. 🙂

  3. An apt comparison indeed! And not at all a comforting one, but then … I cannot remember the last time I felt comforted about our predicament.

I read an article earlier today saying that when asked about his intent toward North Korea, he replied, “I might declare war on North Korea … I might not … I don’t know yet”.

Oh my … sounds so mature and responsible, doesn’t he? 😦

    • Well Susan that is one term to describe Putin. I think his wife has cut him off and wants a divorce. That is the latest “fake news” report on Fox and Freinds. Emotionlly pent up and horny. 🙂
