Visit to a dying and ignorant planet

Save the earth

“Facts which at first seem improbable will, even on scant explanation, drop the cloak which has hidden them and stand forth in naked and simple beauty.”   —    Galileo Galilei

T H E   D I S H A R M O N Y  O F   I G N O R A N C E

Galileo Galilei was an Italian polymath: astronomer, physicist, engineer, philosopher, and mathematician. He played a major role in the scientific revolution of the seventeenth century.

Donald J. Trump is the 45th  president of the United States: a billionaire, bully , egotist, tycoon who with a simple signature on a piece of White House foolscap has disavowed scientific evidence and caused the world to slip back into the dark ages where the world is once again flat and a  company’s profit sheet healthy and viable.

Of course his own planetary provincial ignorance has signed the death warrant for the place we all call home.

What was the purpose of the race for space if ignorant men of wealth and their greedy cohorts shun scientific proofs of the planet’s imminent demise and destruction ?

If someone out there in space has the ability to respond to our messages of friendship and one day visit the planet will they only discover a charred lump of coal floating aimlessly in space on which towers dedicated to wealth and exploitation dot the landscape.

The time has come to treat the planet as an innocent ward of the universe and a special independent friend of the court of appeal ( amicus curiae) be appointed to ensure that its best interests are not exploited.

Who speaks for the planet: theoretically we all should voice our protests and concerns. — gc

A fellow-blogger I recently discovered, GC, writing as Your Nibbled News, frequently makes some very astute observations. His post today is about our Earth vs Trump, and is well worth the read. The post needs no further introduction, as it speaks for itself. Thank you, GC, for this post and for permission to re-blog!

  6. Trump’s appointment of Scott Pruitt is an insult to the people of this country and his ignorance will lead to an all-out corporate assault on our environment.

Wouldn’t want to be on the endangered species list during this administration, it would only put you one step closer to extinction.

We’ve put a couple of really “bad dudes” in charge of our outdoors.

    • What is really scary is that Trump seems to be putting all of humanity on the chopping block. He is amoral, apolitical, asocial and has no plans for the country’s well being. If the U.S. was a “banana republic one of his bad dude buddies would be making clandestine plans to curtail Mr t’s term in office.
