Night visitor not a mental abstraction

“There is not a crime, there is not a dodge, there is not a trick, there is not a swindle, there is not a vice which does not live by secrecy.” ― Joseph Pulitzer

We live in a time of uncertainty and doubt. Police departments around the nation have asked private citizens to become more proactive and unofficially monitor their neighborhoods and make notes of any suspicious behavior which could indicate a crime or crimes in progress. The person in the inset of this photo uses stealth and cunning as he freely enters and leaves my apartment building. He has entered my radar.

In a previous Word Press article (“The Exposing of a stealthy individual”) I wrote about the man in the above photo inset who has taken great pains to conceal tha fact that he has  freely gained access to and leaves from  the building I live in after midnight.

He parks his vehicle on the sidewalk near a street lamp-post. No one is able to recognize him and his actions while he is on site are disturbing. This is an update to the previous article.

I would like to thank Sue. W.  for posting my article on her site (Guilty or Not – Facts and Fictionand adding a number of positive and negative ideas as to whom the man of mystery might be. All the ideas are intriguing.

A few days have passed since I posted the original article and in that space of time the man in the photo has become much more brazen in his nightly visitations to the building.

His vehicle is still parked on the sidewalk near he back entrance and he arrives there about 1:15 a.m. But he is now leaving the premises a lot later. Somehow he has learned the groundskeeper’s start schedule and leaves the area a few minutes before they arrive.

I have kept the onside apartment manageress and the main office of the rental agency informed of his comings and goings for the past two months. No one knows who he is but asked me to provide more information about him.

I sent his photo, licence plate number and the time of his after midnight arrivals to the security detail protecting the property all to no avail. The on site manageress had asked me to inform her when he does make an appearance but it is now a daily situation.

Today I sent another email to the general site office manager requesting their office to take some action on the information I have provided. They have the licence plate number why not call the local police services and have them to check this guy. That would make sense.

I tried calling the police department two nights ago when the stranger arrived but was informed by way of a recorded that unless it was an emergency to please call the office during regular business hours. If  it is an emergency dial 9-1-1 and help will be dispatched “as soon as possible”.

I have an idea as to who this stranger might be. In my building unit there are two empty units which were vacated about the same time this mystery man-made his first appearance.

I am assuming that the previous tenant  or tenants in either of these units gave him the keys to the building and the apartment and that he is somehow “squatting” there for as long as the units remain empty.

In my email to the office management team today I explained  my theory and added that I have done all I going to do to ensure the safety of the site. The ball is now in their court. I also asked them to contact me as to what course of action they will be pursuing.

The private citizen can only do so much. It is time for the managers of the site to get off their butts and do something to support my efforts.

Only time will tell if they do anything of consequence.   –gc

    • Thank you Pat. I still don’t know where this story is heading but am hopeful a resolution to the pesky problem will present itslf soon.

There is awlays the slightest chance that the property management t team will use the old ostrich routine. i.e., tuck their heads into their manilla folders and wish it all away. Thanks for writing. Take care. Be safe. 🙂

  3. Very interesting Sherlock (notice the change of detectives). Pest control also came up as a possibility and if he’d been wearing black… well you know where I’m coming from on this one!

  5. Don’t wake up to see if he is on the prowl. I will be dreaming of him now.

    • From what I have learned today none of the cleaning or maintenance crews know him by sight. I have been considering putting his photo on the bulletin door at the front door with the caption” If you know this person please call the office”. That might work. “_
