Arcane rule blocks right to criticize

“I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

A few days ago President Trump put the world on notice via Twitter notification that there was a ” new president in town”. A new way of doing business in an unconventional and totally blustery way of not only baffling party associates but also alienating friends and foes alike. His unorthodox manner is at times baffling and difficult to fathom. So, why does this new way of acting not apply to the female members of the government?

What the hell is going on in Washington D.C. these days?

Why is it that the newly elected president of the free world can mix business , pleasure and family concerns easily and without restrictions and criticism while female members of the government are openly chastised and silenced for adding their comments to the political arena?

Sen. Elizabeth Warren , Massachusetts Democrat, apparently ran afoul of the chamber’s arcane rules by using defamatory innuendo about Senator Jeff Session’s political past performance. The words used by her before the reading of the letter itself were deemed to be a character assassination of the man.

The letter itself was  three-decades-old  sent from Dr. Martin Luther King’s widow that dated to Sen. Jeff Sessions’ failed judicial nomination thirty years ago.

The latest spin labelled her behavior as malicious and alleges she meant to impugn the character of Senator Jeff Sessions with her “disgusting attack” on him.

She had violated the “chamber’s decorum”…..hmmm  rules and regulations in a time of chaos?

How many public tweets issued by the current president has done the very same thing to individuals, corporations, religious group and politicians. Very bad thing.

Perhaps Ms Warren should have used pointed Twitter tweets on her official governmental account to get her message across. – gc

  1. A man would not have been told to shut up if he had said the same thing.

    • I agree with you 100 per cent. That one woman had more spine than all the men in that room put together. That is why women need to express themselves in a more proactive manner. Thank you for writing. 🙂
