“I believe that the war on drugs is a tragically misplaced use of resources – an immoral venture that produces far more suffering than it alleviates.” — David Harsanyi
Donald J. Trump’s book “The Art of the DEal states “Create win-win deals. Deals work best when each side gets something it wants from the other.”
I realize tha I am no mental genius nor do I profess to be but anyone with a lick of sense begins to wonder what happens to all the seized assets and drug money that US soldiers uncover in their raids in Mexico?
Is it merely burned or is there an accounting office somewhere that allocates and earmarks the spoils of the raids for specific ends?
The war on drugs the way it is currently managed is a costly venture forcing US taxpayers to dig deep into their pockets to cover all the expenses.
Why not get smart and filter all the confiscated cash and goods and real estate into a source of funds to cover the immense cost of the proposed wall ?
Mr Trump thought about confiscating all the oil reserves that were available in the Iraq – US conflict. But he was not in power and there were extenuating political and economic circumstances prohibiting this action.
For the benefit of both Mexico and the United States let’s get all the illegal gains confiscated from the drug trade put to work to save the American taxpayer the burden.
This is probably not that novel an idea but to a business man like Trump who has no regrets for telling someone “you’re fired” it should seem a good business move to use the drug money to take care of his border security wall.
I am sure Mexico , the US third largest trade partner would welcome the suggestion.
Trump then would be able to proudly tell the president of Mexico “You’re covered!”
Both countries could prosper and remain amicable with such an arrangement,
The daily tweets between the two men would be more optimistic and the relations between both countries not up in smoke. — gc
