New Year 2017 starts off in quiet mode

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” Β — Β Ralph Waldo Emerson.

It is Sunday January 1st 2017. The streets are quiet. I have been up since 8 a.m. and the pedestrian and automobile traffic is non-existent. The bottle return depot across the street must be closed for the day because abandoned shopping carts and folks carrying large green trash bags are nowhere to be seen. An EMT vehicle has just passed by my window which has effectively broken the three-hour stretch of silence. It is a quiet start to a new year filled with hope and great expectations. — gc
