Early last Sunday morning I opened the drapes on my patio door and discovered the ice figure shown above. The sun’s light stimulated my imagination and I imagined it was either a large Christmas candle or a mystical doorway to another dimension with someone standing patiently at its entrance.

Was this a mystical experience or a mere mental mirage ?
