Corner that almost banned Halloween

“If ever there was a holiday that deserves to be commercialized, it’s Halloween. We haven’t taken it away from kids. We’ve just expanded it so that the kid in adults can enjoy it, too.” — Cassandra Peterson

Could there ever be a street so cruel and uncaring that the residents there would intentionally set up only one halogen quartz street light to burn eerily on Halloween night and guard the entranceway to a street and sidewalk wracked with pot holes, cracks in the worn cement and other oddities that cause a pedestrian to go bump in the night? There is such a spot but the setup was temporary. Maintenance crews had abandoned this site for a while and the lack of adequate lighting would have made the area devoid of ghosts and goblins. —  gc

Quote of the week: “What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.” ― Eugene T. Gendlin, Focusing
