“People nowadays like to be together not in the old-fashioned way of, say mingling on the piazza of an Italian Renaissance city, but instead huddled together in traffic queues, on escalators and so on. It’s a new kind of togetherness.” — Anon.
The spectre of a road construction crew quickly assembling a wooden road divider at 10 a.m. on a weekday morning sends shivers of dread up and down already harried motorists spines especially if they are anxiously attempting to get to work on time. This one site caused a 20 minute delay as traffic crawled past it at less than a snail’s pace. The roadway further down the road was also in a state of repair. Wending and weaving through such traffic barriers becomes old hat as municipalities launch massive upgrading projects to the city infrastructure. — gc
