A tree is more than a handy nuisance

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.” ― William Blake

Have you ever noticed at times that trees are treated as if they are mere props meant to be abused, used and then trashed? In the westerns they were used as hanging platforms. In modern-day cop shows they are sniper hideouts that serve as camouflage to conceal a perp. For work crews performing home renovations those stalwart trees are mere inconveniences meant to hold trash and debris until the job is done. It’s a shame the things we do to them. More of a shame what we do to one another. — gc
