Island winery silenced for the summer

“It seems only the old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content. The young, brash and impatient, must always break the silence. It is a waste, for silence is pure.” ― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

Three years ago when I visited Saturna Island B.C. the Family Estate winery was alive, bustling, thriving and apparently doing well financially. This past summer when I visited the winery was closed for business. Sixty acres of fertile land contain four vineyards . Visitors were welcomed to enjoy the wine tastings and the cuisine the bistro offered. The winery is now for sale. Residents are upset that this attraction has closed its doors possibly forever. — G.C.

Quote of the week: “What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.” ― Eugene T. Gendlin, Focusing

Your post was poignantly beautiful. I hope it has a happy ending, whatever that may be.

I’m sorry, it’s sounds like that is not something your family wants. You know that what you experienced there will never be taken from you. Enjoy today!

      • I was just vacationing on the island. The residents there were the ones wondering what the future of the winery will be. And you are right: enjoy the day and don’t fret over yesterday or tomorrow. Thank you for your thoughts. Enjoy the day. Be safe. 🙂
