Laying down sod is no piece of cake

There aren’t many sure things in life, but one thing I know for sure is that you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. You have to follow through on some things.” — Rosie Dunne quotes

In case you thought that laying down sod was as easy as placing lasagna noodles in a greased pan think again. It is arduous work requiring skill, caution, attention to safety rules and regulations and above all adherence to common sense practices. The sod strips are carted to a job site on wooden pallets and then it is up to the site super to ensure the job gets done right. There are no shortcuts to follow and it is not as easy as the lay person might assume.

Quote of the week: “What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.” ― Eugene T. Gendlin, Focusing

  1. I watched a neighbor and his son lay sod in their large, corner-lot yard. I know they would have gladly let the pros handle the job. Not like layering lasagna noodles at all!

    • Good catch Lois. A number of folks I spoke with as they watched the team lay the sod thought it was as easy as making lasagna until they saw all the planning and work involved. Thanks for writing. Enjoy the day. 🙂
