Freedom’s opposite — companionship

“Opposites generally create intense chemistry. There are more chances of fireworks when different people are together than similar personalities.” — Sonam Kapoor.

This curious cat sat immobile on the curb and silently observed this man and his beloved dog traipse aimlessly down the hot cement sidewalk as they went about their afternoon constitutional. The cat seemed to be bewildered by the fact that the dog would cashier his freedom for mere companionship.

THE  CAT WHISPERER?

The cat in this photo sat in its place for the longest time probably trying to rationalize to itself why man’s best friend would voluntarily trade in its freedom for the mere companionship of man.

A warm place to live and food to eat and perhaps the occasional play session did not seem worth all the effort to the cat.

This cat values its independence and frequently prowls the neighborhood searching for fun and adventure. It looked well fed and cared for so in essence it was not a homeless cat.

If this cat could utter its thoughts out loud I wonder what it would say? Would it pity the dog or lament its own state of random abandonment?

Quote of the week: “What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.” ― Eugene T.
