Partnering up for the spring trimming

“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.”  Abraham Lincoln.

This municipal work group partner up to trim the dead branches from the tops of the tress lining city streets. This year’s trimming session does not involve a man up cherry picking machine. The long pole used in the process is more than sufficient to latch on to the twigs and dried branches and snip them away.

THE TREE TRIMMERS

Their job is to ensure that any and all dead, withered branches are trimmed away before they become a hazard to foot traffic marching up and down the city streets.

A traditional wood chipping machine ensures that the branches and twigs are disposed of in a proper fashion.

Last year a man up machine was used to cut away the larger tree branches that were beginning to pose a hazard to not only pedestrians but also the many cars that parked below the tree branches.

This year an employee with a long pole complete with cutting blade at the top has replaced the noisy cherry picking machine.

When this action was performed last year in late April  the weather became inhospitable and the employees worked during a brief spring snow storm.

What a difference a year makes!
