“Summer is the annual permission slip to be lazy. To do nothing and have it count for something. To lie in the grass and count the stars. To sit on a branch and study the clouds.” — Regina Brett
THE GROUND CREW
Today begins a series of articles saluting those men and women who are unable to take a time out now that the summer has finally arrived. These folks replace worn out power lines and ensure that city streets are well-lit and safe to drive on.
I call these folks the power players and each work group focuses on a particular aspect of public safety, outdoor maintenance or other aspects of life that make life that much easier for us.
Rather than flip them the bird when you drive past them because they are making your driving experience more exasperating give them instead the good old thumbs up telling them you appreciate them and their efforts.
