Power players out in summer sun

You begin to notice them and probably curse them when the weather warms up and the work crews are aggressively patrolling the streets in their attempt to make your driving experience a safer and enjoyable one. Power lines get frazzled and need to be replaced.In this photo one such work crew repairs the weathered power lines that provide energy to street lamps.

 

THE GROUND CREW

Today begins a series of articles saluting those men and women who are unable to take a time out now that the summer has finally arrived. These folks replace worn out power lines and ensure that city streets are well-lit and safe to drive on.

I call these folks the power players and each work group focuses on a particular aspect of public safety, outdoor maintenance or other aspects of life that make life that much easier for us.

Rather than flip them the bird when you drive past them because they are making your driving experience more exasperating give them instead the good old thumbs up telling them you appreciate them and their efforts.
