Seeking shaded shelter from the sun

“Life is a game. In order to have a game, something has to be more important than something else. If what already is, is more important than what isn’t, the game is over. So, life is a game in which what isn’t, is more important than what is.”– Werner Erhard.

As the heat of the afternoon sun increases in intensity many folks, especially the more adventurous and enterprising among us, seek shelter from the heat in a shaded spot. The gentleman above not only found a site he liked but also took a few moments to watch a pee wee soccer match taking place in an adjacent schoolyard.

Sometimes in life another person’s action may seem aimless and misdirected. But to the person whose life is actively involved in the activity there is a reason and a purpose known only to them.

Many folks find what they are searching for and reap the benefits of their so-called aimless actions.

It’s all in the eyes of the beholder.

Quote of the week: “What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.” ― Eugene T. Gendlin, Focusing

  1. Well put, and interesting thought. Sometimes it is nice to simply be a “people watcher” there is a certain about of interest in the wondering of what may come next in others adventures in life…. We are all so similar but also very different as well 🙂 if that makes sense?

    • That makes a trainload of sense. When we become people watchers we learn more about ourselves and our personal idiosyhnchrosies. The differences make us all the more human bonded in our very uniqueness. Thank you for your thoughts. Have a wonderful day. 🙂

    • Thank you for the enthusiastic endorsement of the phrase. Much appreciated. It just popped into my head. I have asked many “aimless” people over the years what are they searching for. Many honestly state they do not know. Others answer as if they have an unknown agenda important only to them Such is life. Have an enjoyable day. Take care. 🙂
