A momentary low phase in their lives

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Local bottle return depots are now becoming major sources of economic opportunity for the many folks who lack other forms of income. They are a seven-day-a-week operation that the financially strapped seek as their temporary employment provider.

Working in teams allows many such individuals to share a work day with someone else who understands their needs and overall expectations.

These people may be down but they are not out. They are just as industrious and determined to be successful as the rest of society.

They are going through a few proverbial rough phases in their lives but refuse to accept the negative sides of their present circumstances.

Life may have dealt them a few lemons but they are inventive and resourceful enough to open up their own psychological lemonade stand to keep the proverbial wolves away from their doorstep.

Quote of the week: “What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.” ― Eugene T. Gendlin, Focusing

  1. Beautifully said. So many people view such folks with distain when indeed they have no idea what they might do to survive. Not everyone lives on the street because they are lazy…today’s economy makes it difficult for the working poor to survive.
