From chaos springs more confusion

“Everybody’s a mad scientist, and life is their lab. We’re all trying to experiment to find a way to live, to solve problems, to fend off madness and chaos.” — David Cronenberg

What could be more chaotic than a disparate row of assorted shopping carts left to fend for themselves higgledy-piggledy at the rear doorsteps of a bottle return depot. Even the feeble attempt to line these carts up to prevent congestion in the parking lot would prove to futile. They had a one way trip to the nearby depot. End of story.

Many folks these days are blatantly pragmatic in the way they run their everyday affairs. Sometimes their self-directed efforts to maintain order in their lives leads to  a mountain of chaos and frustration to those other folks who try to help them in their daily pursuits.

I realize that most of the people using the carts are homeless and are out their in the real world trying to not only save the ecology but also pocket a few bucks from the bottles they have collected.

But it would be wiser for the bottle depot managers to insist that the carts not be abandoned on their doorsteps but returned to whichever store provided the user with his/her means of conveyance. This would be part of the payout plan.

Spring is getting underway and I truly suspect that this momentary congestion will only increase as the season gets under way and more folks discard their bottles here, there and everywhere.

Chaos can be profitable but only if a semblance of order rules the roost.
