Scars of life’s harsh reality instructive

“There is something beautiful about all scars of whatever nature. A scar means the hurt is over, the wound is closed and healed, done with.”  —  Harry Crews

If you take the time to look around yourself you will see them: the homeless; the transient; the distraught;  and the discouraged. All have been scarred by the harsh realities of life. All are survivors. All have their own tale of survival to tell. Their invisible scars are graphically instructive for the rest of us.

Reality at time is a cruel and capricious taskmaster.

No matter how hard a person tries to stay on the right path the fickle finger of fate unexpectedly intervenes and upsets the apple cart and turns the most well planned recipe for  that life of ease into one of endurance and stress, tragedy and despair.

At that stage of the game you have two choices: (1) accept what has happened and make the best of a tragic situation; or (2) curse the situation and become bitter and filled with despair and wallow in self-pity for your bad turn of luck.

There is really no right or wrong answer to the above scenario. However, before you make your choice look beyond your own skin and really see what people right outside your front door are experiencing in their lives.

By so doing you may just discover that scars are a way of learning about life on a plane of existence different from the one you are used to experiencing.
