A quiet wish for you at Christmas Turn off the electronics and relax

Christmas is a tonic for our souls. It moves us to think of others rather than of ourselves. It directs our thoughts to giving. “—  B. C. Forbe

This is the time of year when people begin to panic and start searching in earnest for that ideal christmas gift for a special friend, professional colleague, significant other or mom and dad.

Editorial Note:

I composed the following poem to the quiet and relaxing moments  one feels when all the gadgets are either turned off and charging or the entire household is fast asleep dreaming of sugar plums, Ipads or laptops.

Hope you enjoy it. Season’s greetings. Remember to take the time to relax.

Twas the weeks before Christmas

And all through my home
Not an  notebook was stirring
Not even on roam

The cell phones were charging
Their face plates aglow
Hoping they’d not miss
A caller I know

On this dark winter morning
As I sat in my chair
I thought I heard outside
A beep or a blare

The house was so quiet
I could not believe
The silence so amazing
No calls to receive

I finally resolved
With most folks to agree
To ignore all the clatter
My tech gadgets sent me

And taking this moment
To spread Christmas cheer
Wishing you all a good holiday
And a Happy New Year

If you don’t go electronic
It’s truly all right
Santa will still find you
His GPS works at night. 🙂

  2. This is so clever, Gerry. I left you a message when I read it this morning, but since I don’t see it here, it must not have gone through. It was as an answer to one of your comments, so perhaps it got printed on my blog. At any rate–The sentiments in your poem hilariously true, you have perfect rhyme and even meter, so what else could one ask for in a Night Before Xmas parody???If you send Xmas cards, I hope this is on them. The season’s best to you–Judy

  5. One of my favorite activities at this time of year is to shut everything off (lights, electronics, what have you) and just sit in the glow of the Christmas lights. It’s so soothing. Nice poetry too! 😉 Merry Christmas to you!
